We have been blessed this week with more hummingbirds than we’ve had all summer. There were seven yesterday, five today. We love to sit on the patio and watch them in the morning while we drink hot tea. (My favorite is Chai spice; Gary’s is apple cinnamon.)
We’ve also seen more butterflies and this morning there was a large praying mantis on the basil. I haven’t bothered to harvest the basil. I just like to grow it for the butterflies and hummers.
I was privileged to photograph the yard of the month this week. Our community organization recognizes a garden each month and then gives a prize at the end of the year. The winner is announced at the annual heritage celebration in October.
Another organization to which I belong is responsible for the upkeep of our local cemetery. I was very pleased this week to see the completion of our newest road. We’ve already planted trees on each side and the next phase will be an archway at the entrance. It’s a blessing to take part in a project that will have a lasting impact on the community.
It saddens me to see another “vaping lounge” opening in the area when the daily news is filled with warnings of the dangers of such products. Why do people risk their lives for such things?
I’m still riding the roller coaster with regards to my personal health- good days, bad days, a few more days of PT. Wondering what the outcome will be and what to do going forward. The more things change, the more they stay the same. There is both aggravation and comfort in that. And as my grandmother always told me, “This too shall pass.”
