Mary Lois Goddard Succumbs
After Long Illness
Mary Lois Goddard, 20, passed away at her home Tuesday afternoon after having suffered of typhoid fever for the past month.
Mary Lois was the eldest child of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Goddard and was one of the most popular and best loved of the younger set. She was a graduate of the local High School; a student of Southeastern Teachers College, where she was a member of the Alpha Sigma Tau social sorority and a member of the Presbyterian church here.
The high ideals for which she lived were well portrayed by the host of her friends who came to pay their last respects to her from the town and surrounding cities.
Funeral services were held in the Presbyterian Church Wednesday afternoon with her pastor, Rev. Ebenezer Hotchkin conducting. The A Capella Choir of Southeastern Teacher’s College sang lovely tributes to this one of their classmates.
Interment was in the Caddo cemetery.
Mary Lois is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Goddard; one sister, Sarah; a brother James; and her grandmother, Mrs. Odil.
We, with her host of friends here and elsewhere, extend our deepest sympathy to her grieving family in this sad hour.
