The Oklahoma Star
December 28, 1875
Christmas Eve Festivities
Though not present ourselves at either the Christmas Tree or the Oklahoma House Ball, the Star was represented and we learn everything passed off in the most agreeable and satisfactory manner. The heart of every child in town was made to beat lighter by the reception of some little token of remembrance hung upon the Tree by a kind and unknown friend, and how anxiously will they watch and wait for the coming of another Christmas Eve.
The managers of the ball deserve great credit for the manner in which they discharged their duties and the guests for the well-bred behavior and true decorum each preserved throughout the night. Nor can too much praise be bestowed upon the fair hostess, Mrs. Sims, for the profusion of both substantials and delicacies with which she loaded her table.
Taken all in all, Christmas Eve, 1875, at Caddo, was a happy event and one that many will ever look back to with pleasure.
