Dear Santa Claus,
I would like for you to visit me this Christmas. I guess your loads of toys and many other nice things will have you most tired out. Trying to keep ‘em from falling out of your big sleigh. As your reindeer goes bouncing over the road, now listen dear Santa, I am good little boy, 10 years old and I am in the fifth grade. I walk 2 2-4 miles to school. I like to go to school and don’t mind the walk much, only when it’s muddy, then I get a little tired so I guess you’ll get big tired having to take care of your loads of pleasure for us kiddies and I am kind of sorry for you dear Santa Claus, you are so heavy and I believe you are a good Santa and I think you will be very glad cause you can leave one of your big bags at my house.
Oh yes, Santa you may come right down the chimney cause we have a fire place and about twelve o’clock Christmas eve night the fire will be so low you can make a big jump and oh you can pick yourself all up right where my empty stocking will be waiting for you to fill. There’s a big family of us so you’ll maybe have to shake it down and fill it up again in order to get around, cause nine is a big lot isn’t it. There’s myself, a little brother 6 years old, and a sister not quite one year old. But the rest are all big and don’t believe there’s a Santa, but I’ll go to sleep Christmas eve and if you don’t get lost and miss my house then I’ll be right for once any way.
Your little friend,
Herschel Henderson
