Giddy Old Boys
A report reached this city that Billy Smith, Editor J. S. Hancock, and Mr. Pace of Caddo, attended the picnic at Bennington Friday and at night an “old maids” party was given and these gentlemen behaved very badly and created quite a disturbance. We are very much surprised at Messrs. Smith and Pace’s conduct, but Editor Hancock, being a widower he was not accountable for his acts. Gentlemen, be more forethoughted in the future- Durant Democrat
Every effort is being made to conceal the above report from the better halves of the two gentlemen above named, as fears are entertained that if the report reaches their ears there will be some hair pulling and two of Caddo’s prominent merchants will be snatched bald, beheaded, and will ever afterwards regret that they attended a “tacky” party, but it is not believed that either of the gentlemen attended the “tacky” party, as it is suspected that the report was started by one whose duty it is to keep down disturbances and who has a wife in the town of Durant, and who probably took an active part in whatever disturbances that occurred and started the report on two of Caddo’s citizens to cover up his own tracks.
The gentleman of Durant may expect a warm reception from Messrs. Smith and Pace the next time he sets foot on Caddo soil.
