Mexico Throng Greets Truman on Goodwill Tour
A broadly smiling President Truman descended from sunny Mexican skies Monday to receive a thundering joyful welcome as his own ambassador of good will to the republic of Mexico.
President Miguel Aleman and high dignitaries of the Mexican government shared top spots in that greeting, but thousands of laborers and humble people and their wives and children turned out to cheer as the President rode through two miles of flag-bedecked streets to the U. S. Embassy.
The presidents of the American republics exchanged formal greetings Monday night at an elaborate state dinner in the national palace. In his speech President Truman expressed his happiness to visit “this great and progressive sister republic”.
President Truman went to Waco, Texas, Thursday, then back to Washington.
