I begin each school year with mixed emotions- confidence and excitement tempered by doubt and trepidation. I’ve been teaching long enough to know that I have the experience and ability to meet any challenge, yet there is always that nagging uncertainty that comes with being human. “What if?” rears its ugly head and I begin to second guess myself before the year even begins.
Of course I am also old enough to know that help is available for whatever ails my mind or soul, so I looked for a little reassurance this morning in Psalms. I found it in 32:8-
I will instruct you and teach you in
the way you should go;
I will counsel you and watch over you.
Do not be like the horse or the mule,
which have no understanding
but must be controlled by bit and bridle
or they will not come to you.
Many are the woes of the wicked,
but the Lord’s unfailing love
surrounds the man who trusts in him.
Rejoice in the Lord and be glad, you righteous;
sing, all you who are upright in heart!
“The Lord’s unfailing love surrounds the man who trusts in him.” I’m going to assume that also applies to the woman who trusts in him.
I hope we all trust in the Lord and have a great new school year!
