The best thing about summer vacation is the knowledge that there are no real deadlines, no time schedules for completing anything. Just that simple change eases my stress level more than you can imagine. So I didn’t get upset when the Walmart photo site said “no one-hour photos today”. I didn’t tap my foot impatiently when the woman ahead of me at Dollar General said she needed to pay for her two carts separately. I didn’t grit my teeth when the woman ahead of me at Walmart asked to have a bicycle fetched from sporting goods. It all worked out and I didn’t worry about a little extra time here and there.
My reason for stopping at DG was to buy a wading pool for the visiting critters. It will soon be very hot and they’ll need more water. Besides, the little tub I had was cracking and the pool makes me smile.
I managed to work in the garden for an hour and accomplished a little here and there. Hung up the pretty new bird feeder that a student gave me.
Found this huge snake skin in one of the flower beds. Makes me a little anxious- I will certainly look twice before I pull weeds.
Bought Dan Brown’s new book, Inferno, and will be enjoying it soon.
Happy that I was wrong about seeing the last of the irises. A couple of surprises today!
All in all…a very good first day of vacation.
