When I was a child I disliked rainy days. I was concerned with keeping my hair neat and my books dry and getting from one place to another without falling down. The latter still concerns me, but everything else about rainy days is wonderful! Living in an area that has been plagued with drought conditions for years changes one’s perspective on weather and the minor inconveniences of a rainy day.
And the timing of this rain couldn’t be better! I completed all my major gardening chores Saturday. All the festivities of Easter were over before the first drops fell last night. Children all across the county got to hunt for eggs with abandon. They ate too much candy and got too much sun and played until they collapsed. They will be too tired to care if we have recess today!
So we begin our week with the blessing of rain. I hope your week begins with many other blessings as well!
…that’s where I left things this morning. I prepared to post and….”website down” was the message I got when I put in my password. So off to school I went.
We had a somewhat cranky day. Too much candy and too little sleep. Lots of tattling and “woe is me”, but we muddled through. We even managed to have our afternoon recess. Our playground has a thick pebble base and drains quite well.
I came home to lots of white irises, a few yellow ones, and a couple of the larger purples. The purple ones don’t last long because our wind quickly tears them apart. The two new azaleas are also blooming!
There were about two dozen cedar waxwings in the yard! Love to watch them and LOVE to listen to them.
All things considered…a blessed Monday!
