Yes, I went barefooted yesterday, at least while I was in the house. And when I went to Walmart yesterday afternoon there were several people wearing shorts. We adjust quickly to the temperatures! Incredibly there are still a few mounds of snow and ice in the shaded areas of the yard. The big pile near the dining room window will be the last to surrender to the warmth of sixty degrees.
I enjoyed watching the pond yesterday. There were Hooded Mergansers, Pintails, and Ringed Necks enjoying themselves and the heron joined them for a while. I’m hoping a trip to Hagerman will be possible during my break from school!
Also a lot of activity in the yard last night. I plan to be a bit more prepared tonight and look out the window earlier. By the time I noticed that we had two skunks, two opossums, and four raccoons dining together it was too dark to take their picture. One skunk was new to the group and almost entirely black. Very small, too. Love to watch the interactions of the various animals.
Mailing my last boxes today. I must say this is the latest I’ve ever mailed a Christmas box. But this year the circumstances have just been different. I’m also not mailing as many cards either. Christmas traditions, like most of life, evolve and change over time. If you don’t get a card from me, it isn’t because my feelings have changed, just my time and finances.
I’m going to finish a few errands and appointments and tasks this week before the next storm heads our way. By Saturday I should be prepared to stay home as long as necessary.
It’s been a quiet, relaxing weekend. Let’s see what the new week brings!
Stay warm and well.
