Today was not my best shopping day! I don’t like to shop anyway. And I’m definitely a “make my list, go get it, do not want to be frustrated or disappointed” kind of shopper. So when the pharmacy told me that despite a four-day wait, my prescription was not ready, I was not happy. When the clerk at Dollar Tree told me they only had NINE of each color of the baskets I wanted TEN of, I was not happy. When three items I wanted were not available at Walmart, I was not happy. And when I was finished with all my shopping I was tired and thirsty and a bit grouchy, so I was certainly not happy when the checker hid my nice cold Starbucks coffee in a bag with the coleslaw. This is my late summer frazzled personality! It tends to emerge when I am too busy, too hot, and too tired.
Apparently my reactions today were quite normal. A report on the news this morning talked about the affect of global warming on violence. Some study has shown that a mere 2 degree rise in temperature can cause a 15% increase in personal violence. Duh! They needed some expensive study for that? Any wife, mother, or grandmother could have told them that heat=grouchy and more heat=violence.
Thankfully my aggravation didn’t last long. A little cool air, iced tea, and a happy email cured my attitude in a hurry. Of course I’m still not eager to go shopping again anytime soon!
