What could be better than pulling up to the front gate yesterday and seeing both my guys standing at the fence watching a gorgeous redhead? Robert was intently gazing through his spotting scope; Gary was attempting to capture the beauty with our camera. Both caught up in the moment and oblivious to my arrival. When I closed my door I got a couple of brief waves. Then they both returned to their duck watching. My guys…
They have always been united in their love of sports, history, cars, ships, planes, movies, and a host of strange things that makes me roll my eyes and wonder if they are aliens. I share a mild interest in most of their hobbies and activities and thanks to years with both of them I can participate in most of their conversations. I also know when to leave the room or send them off together! But their love of nature and their usual refrain from the need to kill things makes me a willing participant in most of their outdoor adventures. We enjoy our time bird watching and photographing and have several trips planned together. So I joined them at the fence to observe the Redhead and a couple of Ring-necked ducks. After I filled the bird feeders and threw some seed on the ground we also had a host of little birds to watch. Robert says I have them well trained!
After an hour of coffee and conversation Robert had to return to Texas. Tomorrow is his birthday and of course I plan to torture him a bit here with embarrassing photos of his youth. Isn’t that what mothers are supposed to do for their adult sons?
I finished my perfect spring day, thanks to the extra hour of sunlight, with a stroll around the yard for a few photos. I love to see bees working…almost as much as I love to see my guys at the fence!
Have a great day!

Actually, I think the birds have YOU trained. My cats are pretty pleased with my progress in my training.
