I have spent much of the morning working on my other blogs, but yesterday I was reminded by a FB post of a revelation that I had years ago in Sunday School and feel compelled to pass on to you even if it has to be a brief posting. Here it is, and I hope you are sitting down:
We are not as smart as God.
No, that is not meant to be funny or flippant. It is a fact that we seem to overlook on an almost daily basis as we ponder our circumstances and try to figure out how to make our problems go away.
We worry. Then we worry some more. We go through all the things that we might do to save ourselves from the outcome that we see before us. We weigh all the facts. We consider our options. We envision the “worst case” scenarios. We plan and prepare. And some of those things are quite helpful and often lead to reasonable solutions.
However, the best thing we can usually do is all of the above and then “let go and let God”.
That does not mean abdicating our responsibility, but merely recognizes that God holds the answers to anything and everything that might concern us, regardless of whether or not He chooses to reveal those answers to us.
We can only think through things with the little minds that God gave us. Even geniuses are limited in what they know because God has not given us the knowledge of everything in the universe. That means that our ideas will always be small in comparison to His. I can’t tell you the number of times something has happened in my life that NEVER would have EVER occurred to me. A solution to one financial problem about twenty years ago came from a source totally unknown to me. I’ll never forget that lesson!
So, if you have a question or concern today, give it to God and trust that He has a solution that your little mind can’t even imagine.
