Art and music seem to be the first subjects cut when money is scarce. This is such a shame. Even though a student may lack talent in these fields of study, I believe that they add such a huge dimension to the lives of people. Not all of us will become a Mozart or a Matisse, but having the ability to listen to classical music and to be able to identify the instruments being played or to study a painting and to recognize the importance of perspective, focus, and shading can open a whole new world... Exercise and sports play an important part in our lives, too, but even when we have reached an age when we cannot participate in sports, art and music can continue to enrich our lives.

That sweet little boy. I hope he's found happiness after all that heartache.

The Arts certainly enrich our world. I think we were blessed with flowers and birdsong for a reason.
