I live in the country! These glorious spring days overwhelm the senses. When I arrived home yesterday the scent of the variegated privet wafted over the whole yard, the pond looked like a huge blue plate of sparkling glass, the flowers were covered in butterflies, and the birds were singing in the trees. I changed my shoes and went right back outside to enjoy! (By the way, that privet smell is one that you either love or hate. I seldom find anyone who just likes it. And it can cause respiratory problems for some people. I have to keep it near the gate, not an open window, because it is quite strong.)
This season is great for my mind and my body. The more time I spend outside, the less stressed I feel; the more I work in the garden, the less stiff and old I feel! I am forever grateful to my grandfather for those long walks in the garden when I was a child. If not for him and the other wonderful gardeners in our family I might have missed one of the great joys of my life. My first childhood dream was to live in the city and never ever work in the dirt!!
I hope you have a Wonderful Wednesday outside…wherever you are.

We're coming into a divine spring too. I had the kids explore how many different types of daffodils we have growing-19 was the consensus. My oldest child, who has lived here in this house for 9 years said "I didn't know we had so many." Stop and smell the roses people! Stop and smell.
