Random thoughts are milling around in my little brain this morning.
I survived the first week of school! I wasn’t sure if I would physically. My feet and legs were in agony Thursday night and not much better Friday night. My only consolation was that I heard similar complaints from colleagues half my age. So I put worry aside until this weekend. Better, still walking, and slept last night without any pain at all. I think the transition from wood floors to concrete has been made!
I didn’t post anything yesterday morning because I couldn’t get an internet connection. And I couldn’t get an internet connection because IT WAS RAINING! Yes, raining…again. It rained until noon- just a steady little sprinkle all morning. And it was cooler. Wonder of wonders!
I finally got a box of school supplies that I had thought would arrive before the first day. I got a notice that it was ready, and too big for a lock box, the second day of school. However, I was unable to pick it up! Of course it contained the new bulletin board I’d planned to put up for “meet and greet” night, so I ended up using “plan B”. You must always have a plan B! lol Now I have the supplies and will use them in a slightly different way.
I did my shopping yesterday and was reminded once again that Saturday shopping is busy and somewhat frantic. I will either have to adjust again or find an evening when I have the time and energy to face another hour of walking.
I visited the cemetery yesterday and took a few photos. I’m behind on this task, but it is ongoing, so I do what I can when I can. I take the photos, post them to the “Find a Grave” website and then as I have time I also look up the obituaries.
I spotted a new bird near the pond yesterday. I couldn’t get a really clear shot of him (saving my pennies for that 800mm lens) but perhaps it will be clear enough for my friend to identify. She is an avid bird watcher and much more experienced than I am. My guess is that it was a green heron, but we will see what she thinks. I did manage a photo of a turtle. The fact that he is on a stump never seen before says much about the drought.
Picked a little bit of okra and got four quick, painful ant bites on my arm before noticing a new hill between two plants. Must remember to look first before doing anything in the yard!
I finished reading a great book yesterday! I plan to keep reading this year, but will have to see if that is actually possible. My problem during the school year is time. And of course when I read in the evening I usually end up falling asleep! Lol
The raccoon dared a quick peek into the kitchen last night before scurrying off to the feeding area. Perhaps she came by to say “thank you”.
Pretty moon last night.
Hope you have a blessed day!

Cute turtle. I wonder if he's ever seen that branch before too.
