We were in the middle of our afternoon reading lesson when one of the boys asked, “Why is the sky dark?” and I had the long-awaited thrill of replying, “I think it’s going to rain!”
We waited in anticipation and several of the boys checked my pickup during table center time. (I park outside our window.) Finally one of them triumphantly announced, “There’s water on your truck!!”
I’m telling you a fact- it has been so long since we have seen rain that we were all sort of awestruck. I had afternoon car duty and I was so amused by the faces of the children as they came out and saw the rain falling. They were surprised, happy, incredulous. Some, like me, willingly and purposely got wet. Others tried to get into the car without letting a drop touch them.
I prayed on the way home because I know that “scattered showers” often translates to “not at your house”, but I was pleased to see wet dirt on the side of our drive. I can assure you there won’t be puddles until we get a whole lot more rain. The ground soaked it up eagerly.
After I put my things away I just went outside and enjoyed the smell and the cooler air. Yes, in addition to the blessing of rain, the temperature was only 93 yesterday and dropped to 75 during the storm. I would love to show you photos of everything looking just a bit refreshed, but that’s not something easily captured by a camera.
I don’t want to be greedy, but there is a 30% chance of more rain tonight so I’ll pray that we get it. Then we are back to hot and dry for another week.
I hope you don’t mind a whole post about the weather, but IT RAINED!!!

We are gren with envy in Fort worth, my house in particular! Thank you Lord for SHOWERS OF bLESSING..
