Yesterday was quite a day!! Storms in the morning, storms in the afternoon, sunshine and calm just before sunset. It’s our annual spring roller coaster ride!!
I don’t have any great words of wisdom this morning so I thought it might be a good day to just post a few photos I’ve collected over the past few days that are not related to each other in any way. Sometimes I just take shots that are interesting to me.
Saturday I had the privilege of witnessing a great performance by a killdeer that was protecting a nearby nest. Killdeer throw themselves into a frenzy of activity if you get too close to their nest! They pretend to be injured and will fall down, make noises, roll over, jump up, and flap their wings in order to distract you away from the nest. I just took a few shots and moved on so the poor thing wouldn’t have a heart attack.
These black mushrooms have dotted the landscape ever since the first storm.
The little bird in the window is a brave soul for nesting so close to our daily activities. She was up over the bay window last year. Difficult to get a really good shot because she is in a dark corner and won’t sit still once she sees me.
It is ironic that I consider myself an “observant woman”, yet critters constantly manage to sneak up on me. I was taking a flower photo last night, turned, and practically ran into this bunny eating grass. A few minutes later I was standing by the fence looking for the egret when another bunny scurried out from the mums next to me. I should be more careful before a snake gets me!!
These little sparrows are just little sparrows, but last night they were singing their lungs out! I’m not sure what they were celebrating other than the fact that the rain had stopped, but I was standing at the corner of the house and they just ignored me and kept singing and eating.
Let’s see what the day brings…have a good one!
