In kindergarten we are learning about our bodies. Yesterday we read about our brains. For the rest of the day my students told me what they were thinking, how they were figuring things out, and how awesome their brains were. Please, please visit my kindergarten blog and read the wonderful stories they wrote.
I love this lesson because it allows me to incorporate a very serious life message into our science program: Your brain is the boss of your body. We talk at the kindergarten level and my message to them right now is that everyone knows how to behave in school, so any bad behavior is now a choice. I only hope that the time we have left in class is long enough for our discussions about good choices to lay a foundation for some serious choices they will make in the future.
Be thankful for your brain today!

Cute little ones!
