I am determined to be more appreciative of my humble, ordinary life this year! I begin this morning by being grateful for the sunshine and cold that greeted us. At least we have not had the storms and floods and snow and twisters of other areas. So we begin 2011 with a clear view of the ducks swimming on the pond and the birds gathered at the feeders.
The photos posted here were actually taken yesterday afternoon. If you are growing weary of bird photos, let me know. I won’t quit taking them or posting them, but you might at least feel better if you complain. I literally had at least fifty birds in the yard last night and more swooping and diving overhead. Most of them were robins, but there were also cardinals, sparrows, juncos, starlings, and a couple of woodpeckers. I wondered if they sensed the impeding change in the weather or they are just getting used to being fed each afternoon.
I’m winding down my vacation and preparing mentally and physically to go back to work Monday. I’ve missed my students and I’m eager to hear what they did during the break.
I’m spending the day shopping with my husband.
Happy New Year!
