There have always been soldiers in our family and I have lists of them all the way back to the Revolutionary War. Here is the enlistment of our great-grandfather.

Banta Joins Army
C.W. Banta was in town Wednesday and informed us that he had joined the army, and will report at Fort Logan next week.
Mr. Banta is 53 years of age, and will be used in the quartermaster’s department where older men are used.
His store at Liberty Hill will be conducted by Mrs. Banta.
The Herald congratulates Mr. Banta, as this seems to be the best way he can serve his country.
The several postmasters are instructed to take enlistments of men between 45 and 55 years of age for this purpose, and if there are others all they have to do is to see the postmaster.
My nephew is currently among the thousands of young soldiers defending our freedom. Please pray for all of them today.
