You just never know what I might have a notion to do. So this morning I had an idea I might just mosey on down to Durant for the Longhorn World Championships. Not exactly the best conditions for photos since the animals were pinned in temporary stalls while being viewed for sale, but the cattle were great and I’m so glad I got a chance to see them!
Overheard this interesting bit of conversation:
“Well, she’s a real bargain at $15,000. You just don’t see that every day.”
Indeed not.

Holy Cow!

Jocelyn's favorite is the black and white long horn.
I didn't realize the horns pointed so many directions. We have a small herd of longhorns that we frequently drive by up here. The kids think they're really cool.
This reminds me of an embarrassing story from my youth. We lived surrounded by plots of land with different herds. I remember once saying my mom how easy it was to tell the male from the female cows because of the horns. Typically there would be one or two what I assumed were bulls and then a dozen hornless cows in the field. My mom burst into hysterical laughter. Until that time I had no idea that females could have horns.
