I actually did a little weeding in the yard last night. Gary was in and out of the yard doing a couple of things and as I put my tools away I asked him what he wanted for dinner. He told me, I turned to go into the house, and out of the corner of my eye I saw a monarch.
“I’ll just grab the camera and see if I can get a shot of that butterfly, and then I’ll cook dinner.”
Three butterflies, two dragonflies, a bunny, and 102 shots later…and I did finally cook dinner.
Now, I’ll be the first to admit that my husband has his faults. He is after all, a man. So he begins with some basic handicaps right there. But he really is a great guy and the thing I love most about him is his complete acceptance of who I am. I know that makes me seem about as selfish as a little child, but I make no apologies. I like being appreciated and accepted for just being me!
So Gary didn’t fuss and fume while I chased butterflies last night. He didn’t make any snide comments about the timing of dinner. He didn’t have any expectations or agendas for me. I felt completely at ease taking photos until I was satisfied with the results. Then I enjoyed dinner with my understanding husband. I think I’ll keep him!
Note: Typepad is having a problem of some sort today and I can’t upload photos of my pretty butterflies. L Will do so as soon as the problem is resolved.
