Yes, I finally got out early and completed the basic plan for next year’s new flowerbed. I’ve thought about it all summer and the supplies have been sitting on the patio for two weeks. I just wasn’t ready to brave the heat! At 7am it was already 82 degrees!
Of course Buddy had to help me with my work. He waited patiently until I had a few rocks placed in front of the bird bath and then he stretched out to watch me complete the project. He didn’t even get up when I put mulch on his toes! J
This is the only flowerbed I plan to expand. The rest will just get some weeding, dividing, and new plants this fall. But this one faces the kitchen and I see it several times a day, so I felt like doing something special. The mulch, and the weed cloth underneath it, will keep the grass out while it settles and matures. Next spring I will add some new soil, plants, and maybe a trellis behind the birdbath. I’ll have plenty of time this winter to think about it. I’m not fond of “instant” gardening and usually like to let things evolve.
I also worked on the messy area next to the front step. It has looked awful for weeks and I’ve just been too busy to worry about it. Now I have daylilies and irises to move, hollyhocks to plant, and more weeding to do. Next year’s garden will be gorgeous!

Looks like fun! I love moving plants and standing back to see what I need to tweak.
About your cat: Jocelyn spent an entire year trying outstubborn one of mine. I have oodles of photos of the cat covered in a dozen hot wheels, wearing a big or covered in legos. Not. Gonna. Move. Must be kindred spirits with Buddy.
