Note to self for next vacation: buy a laptop six months in advance and learn to use it! Trying to work on Katrina’s laptop was like trying to learn Greek in a weekend. I’m too old to suddenly use a different keyboard and navigate without a mouse. I’m definitely NOT part of the “touch screen” generation. LOL So that is my excuse for not posting while I was gone. However, it was probably just as well, because we were so busy that I wouldn’t have posted much anyway!
We had a great time and I’m so glad that I got to see my first grandchild graduate from high school. We also met some of her friends and visited the job site where she will be spending most of her summer before leaving for college. She is going to be one busy girl this summer!
Austin and I managed to squeeze in a little quality time and he is definitely related to his Nana. The boy was barefooted most of the weekend, even on his skateboard. J Smart, good-looking, and a great sense of humor. Yep! Nana genes.
Of course Katrina cooked for us and about fifty other people over the weekend. I think Gary will be hinting that I try a few of her recipes! I’m not about to start making my own pasta, but she did make a couple of things I think I could manage to duplicate. Rob was gracious enough to get up early with me and make coffee. I don’t know why people think it is strange to get up at 5am on vacation!
Even though our main focus was just visiting with family we did squeeze in a couple of “tourist” things. We toured the Lake Champlain Chocolate Factory, and now I will be able to tell my class why their Easter bunnies are hollow! We also went to downtown Burlington and saw the cows they have on display. Gary really got a kick out one of them. I think you can guess which one by the photos! We also spent some time on the waterfront.
I didn’t take any graduation photos because Katrina had that handled. She took some wonderful photos and I will try to borrow or link some. I really liked the way they handled their graduation. The awards ceremony was the night before graduation, so that made the graduation night flow smoothly and quickly. Very important with a large class.
Tomorrow I will post some of our “road photos”. I think most people will be surprised by the beauty of New York state.
I won’t confess to everything I ate while on the road, but I lost three pounds. Driving must use a lot of energy!
Always fun to visit a different area of the country, but I was happy to get home to my little hill. I don’t miss traffic, crowds, or chaos. I left all that behind in the city years ago. Good to get home to peace and quiet. It would be perfect if I could just get all of my children to move home to Caddo. J Of course then I wouldn’t have such great road trips!

First of all: glad you're home, the trip went well and you are both safe!
That said, I hate using a laptop too. I can do it, but I much prefer a mouse. Don't know that I'll ever prefer a laptop . . .
What's the story with the cows?

Glad you had a good, safe trip. Sounds like you weren't there very long but time to enjoy graduation. I saw the pictures on Katrina's blog site. Beautiful area. When we did our RV trip to New York, we were surprised by the beauty of the northern area. I use a wireless mouse with laptop. Works much better for me.
