Mary! I didn't know you picked cotton. I'm glad you're writing this stuff down because it is so interesting. Many of your memories are like mine. We always started trips in the early, early morning or late at night, and Dad would drive through the night to our destination. That was so long ago. Safe travels my friend.~~Dee

We made the trip to Utah from Oklahoma when I was small (late 70's). My mother, her sister and all my cousins for a total of 8 people piled into a car and drove without airconditioning in the summer. Oh, it was hot! We stopped at those rest areas and ate PB&J's all the way there and back. What a flashback!

The heat can be a real bummer if you leave your car out under the sun, and that stays true even with the cars of today. Still, going through those long road trips can be fun. The travel, the new sights, and the potential for adventure can be pretty appealing for kids and adults.
