What is the bane of my existence and also the delight of day? Technology! Yesterday I had a camera problem that of course turned out to be some kind of “operator” error. I still don’t know exactly what happened, but I was using Gary’s camera to photograph the 5K run and suddenly got this odd starburst pattern that I couldn’t get rid of. Switched to my camera, which I thankfully carry everywhere. Went back to the house after the run, and before the parade, to switch lenses on Gary’s camera. Whew! Made it back for the parade.
Later, I was getting ready to post photos to my blog and FB and of course it started raining so I couldn’t, because my contact to the satellite in the sky doesn’t like rain. J I’ve learned patience from all of this. Posted a few of them this morning.
I had such a great time yesterday!! It is so much fun to see family and friends gathered for a day of celebration. The weather was perfect- cool in the morning for the 5K run and warmer in the afternoon, but never warm enough to send the crowd home. There was lots of food! For the first time in several years we had the return of funnel cakes- always a crowd pleaser. I was sorry that Gary had to work and missed them. (I make them for him once in a while- guess it will have to be soon.)We had hamburgers and hot dogs and BBQ and roasted corn and snow cones and lots of snacks and candy.
The 5K run had a good turnout. I’m always amazed by how many people enjoy running. I used to run-honest-years and years ago. Now I’m content to take pictures of people running. There were several teams in attendance yesterday. Loved the “Former Couch Potatoes”.
I spoke to several people who expressed their appreciation for my Caddo blog. Always good to hear that people are still reading it and enjoying it.
One of the joys of Heritage Day is watching the children! There were children on floats, dressed up for contests, eating lots of goodies, shooting that silly string-in-a-can stuff everywhere, singing on stage, participating in games, and just walking around being cute. Nice to see our future citizens having a good time.
Quite a few elderly residents were also on the street yesterday. I spoke to a few who have been sick, but are recovering nicely. Also spoke to a couple who have recently lost loved ones. They were finding comfort in visiting with friends.
I’ll post a few of my favorite photos here. If you want to see more go to Caddo My Home Town .

I love kids dressed up in costumes. I don't think they get to do it often enough for their little imaginations. Beautiful pictures. Wow.
I went to your Caddo blog. What's the story about riding stick horses?
