I have some horrible school photos in my files. No, I’m not sharing them. Did you not read the word “horrible”? Those awkward, toothless grin, bad hair days are best forgotten. J I posted my favorite good picture!
Yesterday was picture day at school and it was a very pleasant surprise for me. I wish now I had paid attention to the photographer’s name. We switched companies this year, because of some terrible photos and order mix-ups last year. The new company made a very good impression yesterday. They were friendly and polite. They were concerned with the children- actually fixed hair and washed faces! There were three people shooting photos and the one we got actually asked my opinion about three photos to make sure the smiles looked natural. He also re-shot one when he noticed jelly on the kid’s cheek. He made five shots of one student before he was pleased with the results. Yes, a very pleasant surprise.
Of course my students were horrible yesterday. It is a fact of kindergarten life that any major deviation from routine results in chaos. Believe me, picture day is a MAJOR deviation from routine. We were in the gym with three other classes. We were standing in line waiting for our turn, and then as the students finished with their photos they were given a piece of candy and placed in another line, sitting down. Of course there is no “sitting” on a gym floor! One must spin and scoot and roll. Why waste all that polish?? My best students were wiggle worms and my worst students went wild. Of course I’m at the photographer’s side giving him names, because most of mine either won’t talk to him, or can’t remember their last name. So I’m giving out names, looking at photos, monitoring the standing line, and yelling behavior reminders to the sitting line ten feet away. Thirty minutes or more of that and it was definitely time for a recess break!! We survived, and I’m sure the photos will be great.
Today is the last day of the week. It’s all good. We have county teacher’s meeting tomorrow and Monday is a holiday. Enjoy!
