No, I didn’t venture out into the yard last night! Lol It was raining, so I didn’t even have to use my cat phobia or my new snake phobia as an excuse. In fact, Megan, I gave Buddy a rub on the head. How is that for bravery and forgiveness??
I’m finally posting two photos this morning that have been on my mind for weeks. Every morning I pass this gorgeous crape myrtle owned by a couple of my parents from a previous class year. I finally had a chance yesterday to ask them if I could take a photo of their tree and they were happy to oblige. They live on a busy corner, so I took it from my truck. And you can see by the reflection in my mirror that I didn’t have a lot of time! Lol But this is honestly the largest crape myrtle I’ve ever seen and this photo shows the last half of the bloom cycle. It was much fuller and brighter a couple of weeks ago.
Today in class we will paint for the first time. Oh, joy! We usually paint on Fridays as a treat. Other classes watch a movie, but I don’t, and won’t, have a television in my room. I don’t think I need to show movies to a generation that spends thirty hours a week in front of a TV. Just my old-fashioned ways. So we paint and make a mess and have fun.
The staff gets to wear jeans on Fridays. I’m not sure why it makes a difference, but it does. Just so much more relaxing to be in jeans. I think we should wear them every day in grades pre-K through third. We get so dirty: painted, glued, loved! I think I’ve mentioned before that I once saw a “makeover” article in a woman’s magazine that dressed a K teacher in a $150 outfit. And this has been several years ago, so let’s say $250 now. What a stupid idea! That would last about one day before it was ruined.
Okay, I have to mention one ugly thing today. The start of school always means a reminder of my pet peeve #367!!! If you do this you are on my last nerve! I don’t care if I LOVE you and we have been friends for a hundred years, STOP IT, and I mean now. J Do NOT tear the crust off your bread. I’m not kidding. Pick up that sandwich and just eat it! The crust is part of the bread. We are talking about white, sliced bread anyway- there is no real crust!! Do not take it off. Do not teach your child to take it off. And for my sake do not stand in the lunchroom and take it off FOR your child!! It is wasteful. It is ridiculous. It is messy. And the “need” for it is beyond my comprehension. Thanks…I feel better already.
Have a great Friday!

You are too funny!
Just so you know: I have NEVER taken the crust off a sandwich for myself or another person. You can continue to love all of us up here in Utah.
Kudos to you about not using tv to babysit. 30 hours a week? I bet you it's even more than that in a lot of households.
Gorgeous crepe myrtle. HUGE.
