Marilyn and I have been friends since the early eighties. We went to church together and taught preschool Sunday school together for years. Marilyn is one of the most caring and generous people I have ever known, and if anyone has the gift of hospitality it is certainly her. She knows how to make people comfortable- mentally and physically. She also cooks!! So I was eager to visit with her when we took our trip to California. A few years ago she and her husband retired to the mountains and now live in a wonderful community just down the road from several other members of our old church. After seeing her house and town I understand why- I’m tempted to look for a house on her street!
We had a great visit and after only a few minutes I felt like we had just been gone for a short time. Marilyn hasn’t even aged since the last time I saw her. I have to stop hanging around with these people who look younger than me!
Marilyn and her husband, Walt, are musically talented. They do a lot of work for their local church and for other groups as well. They are also involved in a local “mission house” project that I found fascinating. I hope you will pray for them and for their work.
I love their home with its big windows. I don’t know how Marilyn gets any work done. I’d just stand around and look outside! It is ironic too, that with over 500,000 deer in Oklahoma, we took our best deer photos in California. Deer wander through Marilyn’s yard daily. There are also lots of birds and other critters.
I’m keeping the location of Marilyn’s house a secret. They already have as much company as any hotel. I want to make sure I can stay there again in a couple of years! Lol

Is she deliberately feeding the deer? Just for pictures or to encourage them to hang around? I love them. They are beautiful. As I don't have a problem with deer eating in my yard, I believe they are beautiful creatures.
I hope to have a long time friend like that some day. How wonderful!
