I've heard that sixty is the "new forty", but someone forgot to tell my body! LOL I worked at the school carnival and let me just tell you that I am feeling every bit of the two hours spent standing in our booth. I wasn't even this sore last weekend after Heritage Day. I don't think standing in one spot is good for the knees, ankles, or back.
We had a great turnout last night. It's nice to know that even in the middle of economic problems, parents will support their children's school. And the kids had a great time. The "video game" generation is just as easily amused by a few simple games and prizes as the last generation.
October is the month of carnivals and festivals and football and fun. My students are very excited right now about costumes and cheer leading. Each day one of them tells me about their costume...in great detail...even if they told me about it the day before! I remember how excited my own children were about dressing up. I even like to do it sometimes. And I think that's part of the appeal of cheer leading. The girls love to dress alike.
Next week is our fall break. We will teach Monday and Tuesday. Tuesday night is parent/teacher conference night. The rest of the week is a mini-vacation. I enjoy this break much more than spring break! Time to do some fall gardening and also spend a little quality time at the genealogy library.
I'm honestly looking forward to parent/teacher conferences. Most of my students are doing well and I enjoy sharing their progress with parents. Some who are struggling are still trying their best, and making progress. You can't ask for more than that.
Have a great day!
