Just starting out the day with my usual routine- feed the cats, feed the fish, make coffee, kill a scorpion...this morning there was one in the sink! Yikes! At least there are clouds in the sky this morning. Perhaps we will finally have some much-needed rain. That would be different!
I worked in my classroom yesterday and got a wonderful surprise. I now have a big new storage closet and a new bookshelf!! Yeah!! You can't begin to imagine how much "stuff" a kindergarten teacher can accumulate over the years. And I like to be organized- it helps me work more efficiently. So...I'm a happy teacher! Now I just have to spend a few days unpacking stuff and putting it inside the closet.
My granddaughter Taylor is quite the crafty little girl. She also loves to enter projects in the fair, and this year won "best of show" in her division. Here is her entry:
Taylor will start fifth grade next Tuesday. Ahh...the memories that brings to mind. My first (only?) trip to the principal's office was in the fifth grade! A sweet young man walked me home each day for the first three or four months of fifth grade. Then a new girl arrived in our class and he started walking her home! The nerve! Of course I didn't blame him, so I wrote her a hateful note. I think I called her a "gold digger" because the young man's father owned the local grocery store. Oh, the drama of a fifth grade mind!! LOL Anyway, she cried, I got a warning, and I had to write a lovely apology. Lesson learned.
Off to the park this morning to water the flowers. Back to class for some more unpacking. Quick trip to the genealogy library to look up something for a friend. Back home to water the garden. Typical summer day.
