It's amazing how much you can accomplish if you wake up at 4:45am! Of course I'll be equally amazed if I manage to stay awake past 9pm! LOL But I was "beating the heat" this morning. I got out early to work in the yard, pick squash, trim the weeds down by the gate/cattle guard, trim the weeds in the downtown wildflower bed, pull some nut grass in the Buffalo flowerbed, and water the new plants at Boland Park. Whew! Can we say tired?
I also spent a very productive (and cool) three hours at the genealogy library. Some days I only find one or two things that I need. Today I found at least a dozen bits of information for my own research and the requests of others.
Speaking of beating the heat, we saw Wall-E yesterday. So very cute!! And I have to say again how wonderful it is to have a hometown theater. Good movie for just $3 (seniors, $4 regular admission), air-conditioning, comfortable seats, $1 for candy. What's not to like?
Also finished reading Daniel Silva's spy novel, The Secret Servant. This one was good, but I think The Messenger is still my favorite so far. I did have a "pause" moment in the Servant, while Robert and I calculated the weight of $30,000,000 in cash. It figures in a key scene and it bothered me. Readers are like that!
Now I'm reading Charles Clark's novel, The Immigrant. So far, so good! I'll give you a review next week.
We had home entertainment last night. Robert started to go out to his car to get something and realized our little skunk was between the house and the front gate. We spent at least fifteen minutes watching him dig for grubs before he moved on. He was out there again this morning and I had to be so very careful with my watering chores. LOL
Stay cool!
