Not much going on in this old mind this morning. I woke up at 5 am with a groggy headache. I suspect I drank too much coffee yesterday and not enough water. When it starts getting warm I am very susceptible to dehydration.
I had a great day at school yesterday. We're trying to finish some big projects for Mother's day and the end of the year, but we're also learning about ocean life. Children love the ocean! And for some reason they love sharks most of all. Followed of course by whales and dolphins.
Speaking of animals, I killed my first snake this weekend. Honestly, I didn't intend to kill it, especially after I realized it was only a grass snake. Also killed a scorpion, in my bedroom, and believe me, that was an intentional kill. Hate those things.
My heart goes out to my friend Joyce today. Her little granddaughter broke her arm and there were some tense hours before it was set and in a cast. Glad to hear that it went well and she is now sporting a "glow in the dark" cast any ten-year-old would be proud to wear!
My own granddaughters have birthdays Thursday. Yes, they both have the same birthday. One is ten and the other is sixteen (and if I got either wrong, I'm going to hear about it!). Nana loves you...and has a headache this morning girls.
I can't begin to tell you how difficult it is to be a "long-distance" grandmother. I know now what my own grandmothers went through. There is so much I miss, so much that I simply don't know. I just cherish what I can. My grandmothers saw me sporadically and I still loved them dearly. We had good relationships as I got older and I was able to communicate more. I can only hope for the same with my girls.
Well, it is time for a second cup of coffee and some email. Yes, I will take more water with me today. You do the same. Yes, Kat, I have a re-usable jug!
