I was cleaning out some old files yesterday and found a red journal. It’s from my English class at Central High (CA), 1964. It contains only seven entries, but it’s kind of sweet. Here’s Sept. 29:
“Traits I Wish I Didn’t Have
All people have traits they dislike for some reason or another. I have two which especially irritate me. I forget things such as books, purses, letters, etc. I almost always remember dates, places and people, but I seem to have a knack for forgetting personal objects. The other trait is my bossiness. It used to be worse, but teachers have helped me to change it into what they call “leadership ability”. I don’t think I’ve come to that yet, but I’m working towards it little by little.”
My husband and children can stop laughing now! At least I’ve always known I’m bossy.
