My youngest daughter had a birthday last week and I didn’t wish her a happy day here on the blog because we were having server problems. I called her and she swears that a few years ago I forgot to even call her, but that blunder apparently didn’t register in my own feeble memory. I apologized again anyway.
I spent a few minutes last weekend recording birthdays on my new calendar. Today is my sister-in-law’s birthday, tomorrow my Dad’s, the next day another sister-in-law’s. Between friends and family we could blow out candles every week of the year!
My dad is the one who amazes me. He will be 77 tomorrow and he seems to have aged very little in the past ten years. He did make one concession for his aging body this past week. He went to the doctor because he has had a lingering sinus infection. There was a time not too long ago when wild horses couldn’t have dragged him to the doctor for anything less than a gaping, bleeding wound. Nice to know that he’s become at least a bit more cautious.
We finally went to Sunday School at the church we’ve been attending. (I still can’t quite say “our new church”.) I think we were taken to the wrong class though. Most of the people in attendance had celebrated at least ten to fifteen more birthdays than we have. Next week we will try another class. Not that I don’t like hanging out with older, wiser people, but I do prefer to attend SS with other people who are still working and dealing with similar daily stresses and struggles.
My own birthday is rapidly approaching. Next month, “Lord willin’ and the creek don’t rise” as Gran always said, I’ll add another candle to my cake. This year I hope to be just a little thinner, wiser, and kinder than I was last year. Better start working on that tomorrow!

I love the photos of your flowers!
