My daughter, her mother-in-law, and my granddaughter are no doubt amidst the throngs of bargain hunters out today. Not me! Five years at Macy’s cured me of the desire to be out shopping at the malls and major stores on “black Friday”. I don’t care if they were open at 5am this year or not! 5am????? INSANE! There isn’t anything on my list, or anyone else’s, that would motivate me to get up that early and SHOP.
No traffic, long lines, angry mobs, or disappointments for me. I’m off to Craighead’s for their anniversary celebration. Just polite conversation, laughter, refreshments, and lovely old fashioned gifts. Later...
"Buy Nothing Day" is observed on the Friday after the holiday to encourage everyone to consume less. But any day can be Buy Nothing Day!
