You thought I was gone didn’t you? I haven’t written a word since last Friday and now you’ve come back just to see if I’m here. Sorry. I’ve been having too much fun to sit down and write my blog. And I’ve been too sleepy to make much sense anyway.
We celebrated our anniversary Friday with dinner at a local Italian restaurant. It’s a rather new place, so it was the first time for us to visit. The food was enjoyable, but the restaurant REALLY lacked any ambiance. I know this is Oklahoma, but I hate to see waitresses in jeans unless they’re serving BBQ. And I don’t like my bread brought to me in a plastic basket unless I’m at the DQ. Just picky that way. I did enjoy visiting downtown Durant. It was the first time I’d really walked around downtown since their major remodeling last year. They’ve made some nice changes.
On the way home from dinner Gary forced me to stop at Braum’s and pick up a half gallon of Chocolate Brownie Fudge ice cream. Just trying to be a good wife. In case you haven’t figured it out, that’s why I don’t look like the photos in the anniversary blog anymore!
Saturday morning we attended a meeting of TRAC’s Beautification and Preservation committee. We’re working on a grant application for new sidewalks. Take a peek at my Caddo blog if you want to see why we need them.
Our son, Robert, came to visit on Saturday and met us for lunch at a very popular Tex-Mex place. The food is predictable, but the service is great and I never go there without seeing someone familiar. Saturday it was a sweet woman I worked with several years ago at another school. It was great to see her and visit for a few minutes.
After lunch we waded through our usual Saturday chores, including WalMart. Then back home for more exciting chores. Saturday night we watched Walk the Line. Robert rented it for us, and watched it with us again, even though he’s seen it three times. We’re all Johnny Cash fans. It just made me sad to see how much of his life was wasted on drugs. (By the way, I was the only one of the group who has been inside Folsom Prison. Visiting! I swear. That’s a story for another blog.)
Sunday I taught SS because our teacher was out of town. Then home for a quick lunch and back to town for “Clean Sweep”, the monthly clean up effort. We swept the sidewalks and worked on flower beds for about two hours. A generous couple gave us a box of lilies so I wanted to get them out right away. The red tulips are blooming!
Monday night we went to a TRAC meeting to go over last minute details for this coming Saturday’s countywide Trash Off. Also helped judge the student poster contest for the event. They were so cute!! Then next door for the Caddo City Council meeting. They are sponsoring the grant application for us. We didn’t get home until after nine thirty. I had three business emails I simply HAD to answer, so I got to bed at 10:30. For an old lady who gets up at 4:30AM that is LATE.
Last night I worked on my portion of the grant application and a school report. So…that’s why I didn’t blog sooner. And now that I’ve chronicled my pathetic little life you are probably bored to death and won’t come back to visit me. Oh, please. I’ll do better next time. Promise.
