We were reading a book during group today.
The book emphasizes long vowel sounds, so the teacher in the story is named Mrs. Hume.
Most of my children read, “Mrs. Hum”.
So I said, “No. What would her name be if we said it with a long u sound?”
One of my boys instantly had the answer!
“Barbara!”
Seriously…I could not make this stuff up if I tried.
Learning has the potential to be great fun. Learning long and short vowel sounds help kids in early reading and writing skills..
