Okay…I’ve been told that I MUST post this for the sake of honesty and for the amusement of kindergarten teachers everywhere.
Monday morning I was happily singing a song with my class during our morning meeting when a fly suddenly flew into my mouth!!!! GAG!!!
I did what every dedicated crazy kindergarten teacher would do…I turned my head, spit it on the floor, and kept singing. Several of my students laughed. Some were shocked and disgusted. A couple on the front row kept saying, “Mrs. Maurer it’s still alive!”
We finished the song. I picked up the fly with a tissue. Then I read a story.
Of course all morning I thought about germs.
All afternoon I wondered if I was going to come down with a strange disease.
This morning I was thankful to still be alive and none the worse for the experience.
I was also very cautious when we started to sing….
