Our “best of the best” students were treated to a movie party last week. They got to bring a pillow and blanket and watch “Toy Story 3” on a big screen in the cafeteria, with our assistant principal, while munching popcorn and drinking sodas. Four or five students from each of our eight classes were able to participate. It was their reward for a semester of good behavior, hard work, and great attitude. Two of my highest students, one of my average students, and one of my lowest students qualified. One of my little boys was a bit disappointed that his behavior hadn’t been good enough to earn him a spot in the audience.
As his dad walked him out that day, I heard him say, “Well, maybe next time you can go, too.”
“No”, his son replied. “I won’t be good then either.”
Sad…but honest. And probably true.
