I think we forget sometimes that children are quite capable of using big words, and using them correctly, if they become a regular part of their normal vocabulary. This week one of my students slightly scalded his hand on some hot cocoa. He showed it to me as soon as he got off the bus. And he explained to me, "If it starts hurting today, you have to give me some ibuprofen." :)
