I got the results from our test. There were a few minor surprises, but nothing that will change the way I teach, or my current groupings, or my expectations. My students need to work on recognition of rhyming words and story comprehension, the two things kindergarten students always need to work on, and by the middle of spring when we give the test again they will do much better. I'm much more concerned that four of my students do not know the twelve letter sounds the other students have learned. We will drill on those this week!
This week is the beginning of frantic activities. We have so much to do in only ten days! I'll try to post some of them here just because they are so cute. One of my favorites is a dictation activity that asks the question, "Why is Rudolph's nose red?" The answers are so precious.
