Who for Sheriff?
As we now have several candidates for sheriff of Blue County, there are some things that become especially important for the people to consider.
First, they should know that the person by whom they are asked to trust their important public business is honest and competent.
Another important thing to consider is that the people in some public manner should show that they appreciate honesty and ability in those to whom they have entrusted their public affairs.
Another very important thing to consider is that from long custom it has become the unwritten law among the Choctaws to acknowledge their appreciation of an honest and capable servant by endorsing him for a second term.
Apply this rule to the many candidates and what must necessarily be the result. It should be clear to our minds that the man who as sheriff of Blue County served the people in an honest and efficient manner and to whom is due from the people an acknowledgment of their appreciation of his official conduct by electing him a second term thereby saying to others that honesty and efficiency in officers meets with their approval and nothing short of this will they accept.
This much we believe is due J. C. Hampton. This much can be said without casting any disparaging reflections upon the character of his opponent. This much we believe can be done and J. C. Hampton will be sheriff of Blue County for the next two years. Justice will be done and a good principal defended. A voter.
