John B. Gossett, aged 65, died early Monday morning at the home of Mrs. Lloyd Manning, his daughter, where he had made his home for several weeks. Death was caused by pneumonia. Funeral services were held here in charge of Rev. H. A. Carlton, pastor of the Methodist Church at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon with interment in the Caddo Cemetery. Deceased was a native of Wolfe City, Texas, later moving to Calera where he made his home until the death of his wife in 1919. Since that time he has been living with the children. Mr. Gossett is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Barnes, Anna, Texas and Mrs. Ollie Boyd, Scurry, Texas; five children, Mrs. A. C. Smithy (?), Commerce, Texas; W. L. Gosset, Durant; C. C. Gossett, Dallas; B. C. Gossett, Wolfe City, and Mrs. L. O. Manning of Caddo.
The deceased is a pioneer of Caddo and has been prominent in its business, civic, and religious affairs. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. L. O. Manning of Caddo and Mrs. O. C. Guthrie (?), Commerce Texas. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church in Caddo Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Interment was in the Caddo Cemetery. (Not sure why there is a repeat of survivors or a difference in the names.)
