The Civic Club
Mrs. McCoy entertained the Civic Club Wednesday afternoon. Answers to roll call, quotations from the Bible.
The beautiful committee, Mrs. Carraway as chairman, reported quite a neat little sum realized from the Civic Club excursion trip held in the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Semple. The committee have planned to use this on “The Katy Plaza” they have started at the Railroad Station. A vote of thanks was to Mrs. Semple and Miss Carraway for their assistance.
The club arranged to visit the school Friday afternoon instead of Wednesday so that they would not upset the regular school work.
The charity committee asked for donations to be sent in for their box for the Orphan School.
Committee reported their work for the open session to be held at the home of Mrs. F. P. Semple Halloween night. No special program was arranged in the year book.
A surprise program was given. Mrs. and Miss Hancock played a beautiful duet followed by a very enjoyable reading by Miss Carraway of Houston. Mrs. Cossart then played a selection from “Il Trovatore” that was enjoyed very much. The hostess served delicious refreshments.
