Navigating the streets of Caddo must have been a nightmare when everything was dirt! And remember that for years there were board walkways only in certain areas.

Gravel Work Starts on West Buffalo St.
Work of graveling the residence district of Caddo on West Buffalo Street started Monday morning. Some of the grading had been done previously so that the gravel laying will proceed rapidly if the weather permits.
Gravel will be laid a width of twenty feet in the center of the street from Craghead’s Garage to the corner of J. A. Moore’s.
The citizens of the two blocks farther west probably will gravel that part of town as soon as this work is finished. Since the work must be done by voluntary assessment against the lots; the agreement of all property owners on a street is necessary to gravel it or others must contribute to pay for the lots not contributing.
The gravel on the business streets has proven so valuable that the citizens are anxious to get it spread in other parts of town. It has withstood all the long and heavy rains and seemingly gets better as time passes.
