Lions Take up East Okla. Playgrounds
W. R. Kavanaugh, general manager of the East Oklahoma Playgrounds Association, was a guest of the Lions Club in Caddo at Tuesday’s luncheon. He told of the plans for advertising this part of Oklahoma to attract the tourists who will be looking for a vacation spot. Caddo being on the main line of the Jefferson Highway is sure to get her share of the tourist trade as it comes along. The matter was put into the hands o the Civic committee who will go to Durant next Friday noon when Mr. Kavanaugh has a date there.
Another hundred per cent attendance record was had. Lion Cassidy was away but dined at Hugo Wednesday with the Lions.
A report of the track meet was given by Chairman Early. Five schools have signified their willingness to take part. Others are expected.
The program given by the Army was a real knock out, the quartet and radio announcing being the feature. Miss Bee Bee Chiles gave an enjoyable reading.
Another bunch of guests are due Caddo May 20 when the triade trippers, or Glad Handers, from Oklahoma City will be here about an hour. Arrangements will be made by the Lions to greet them.
The seniors of High School will be invited guests of the club before school closes- an appreciation for the many times these young people have aided in the programs.
The Lions Club is just a year old, and during that time has been of much material benefit to the town, the tourist park being one of its accomplishments. Then it has taken part in every move for civic betterment. The fellowship at each luncheon has proven very beneficial.
