Today started off very cold and very wet, but that did not deter the hearty group of runners who showed up for the Buffalo Stampede. I waited under the awning of the water department building for the delayed start. Thankfully the rain subsided and the runners were able to complete the race without drowning.
There were a few more sprinkles and then the Heritage Day parade got started. This year the ladies of the Civic and Cemetery Club were honored. The group was formed in 1903 and since that time has done more good things for Caddo than could ever be listed. Past presidents Wanda Nation and Kathleen Meadows were parade marshals. Jake Edwards was also honored with a citizenship award for his many years of service to the school and community.
I took 521 photos so I will be posting more over the next few days! Just thought you might like to see the highlights. If you were in the race you can contact Wanda Tidwell about a photo after Tuesday. I will warn you- I didn’t get as many good photos of the race as I usually do. The combination of rain, dim light, and fast runners was difficult for me. Parade photos will be available at Craighead’s after Tuesday. If you are on my email list I will send photos directly to you.
The new metal buffalo herd has been installed above the pavilion.
The old jail is on display in the museum.
