Boy Scouts’ Activities Reported by Executive
Kiamichi area Boy Scout troop No. 19, sponsored by the First Baptist Church of Durant, is being reorganized under the leadership of Dr. J. A. Clay as scoutmaster, according to information received by Executive H. F. Donnelly on his scheduled visit to Durant on Monday and Tuesday of last week.
Troop No. 22 is being reorganized under the sponsorship of the First Presbyterian Church. Mr. George Cain is chairman of the troop committee and a scoutmaster is to be secured immediately.
J. C. Mullens, scoutmaster of the Grace M. E. Church, reports satisfactory progress being made by his troop.
Representatives of other troops met with executive Donnelly and planned a board of review to be held on Monday, March 10. The time and place to be announced at a later date.
Caddo Troup No. 8, under the leadership of Guy G. Crossett, carried out a full anniversary week program, including attendance at church services, special chapel at school, and an open house and court of honor. Spurgeon Brister, James Goddard, Glynn and Lindsey Martin, Ralph Nation, and David Wilson were advanced to second class rank; James Goddard and Lindsey Martin were awarded 3 and 2 merit badges respectively, and George Wood received 12 merit badges and the rank of star scout. Scout Wood is the most advanced member of his troop.
